Are CBD and Hemp Oil the Same?
Seed oil is extracted from the seed of a plant, while CBD is extracted from the whole hemp plant, including flowers, leaves, and stems.
- Research the brand. This includes looking for trustworthy reviews and product COAs (Certificate of Analysis). Reputable companies will have this information readily available on their website. COAs confirm exactly how much CBD and other cannabinoids are present in the product.
- Check the ingredients. Reading a product’s label will give you a ton of insight. This is where you will find the distinctive ingredient you’re looking for: hemp seed (hemp seed oil) or CBD (hemp extract).
- If you’re shopping on Amazon, then it’s hemp seed oil. Amazon does not currently allow CBD to be sold on its platform.
- Most CBD is sold in quantities of 300mg (~$50) to 2,000mg (~$200) at most. If the product you’re looking at is much cheaper than those average prices, or the quantities in mg (milligram) are much higher, then it’s hemp oil.
